Bornemann was distinguished as „The Selected Place of 2006" from more than 1,200 applicants, and therefore belongs to the winners of the Germany - Land of Ideas location initiative. Bornemann is thus visible proof of the innovative power of active medium-sized enterprises in Germany and of their strength in worldwide competition.
This award is a welcome confirmation for Bornemann of their strategy of solving customer problems and of mastering new tasks with innovative technologies.
The contribution that led to this award is the subsea multiphase technology that allows the pumping of oil and gas from sources under the sea without having to install offshore platforms as in the past.
March 9, 2006 was the day of the official award. So that all employees could participate in this important event, a sales meeting was held in the recently dedicated new hall.
Dr. Ingo Bretthauer, the director, accepted the award certificate at this meeting. It was presented by the marketing director of the Deutsche Bank. This bank is the exclusive partner of the competition to set a clear example in the German domestic market.
The grand certificate of the Federal President was presented at the same time.
Dr. Bretthauer announced a number of activities scheduled for September 18th in a speech on the award and its meaning. This is the day on which Bornemann introduces itself to the public as the selected location.
Bornemann subsea technology offers two meaningful aspects for the future of oil and gas delivery. For one, it allows the delivery of under sea sources without the use of drilling platforms or drilling ships. The conveying systems are installed directly on the sea bed and convey oil and gas directly via submarine pipelines to processing stations on land. This is more cost-effective and more environmentally friendly.
The other aspect of this technology is that the fully-automated, secure conveying units allow access to sources of up to 1,700 m in depth. This also applies to sea areas that previously were not accessible due to storms, strong currents and high wave motion. This means that additional reserves can be used with this technology.
The core of the systems used here are the twin screw pumps developed by Bornemann.
